Amerasad was a seed planted in my heart when I found myself facing two back to back surgeries, resulting in the closing of my brick and mortar art gallery and an eventual disablement. During that same period the business my husband had worked for was closing. As a CEO the board of directors made him the party in charge of closing the plant. A business he had worked at for 33 years and anticipated retiring from. Two loves and two incomes were being lost within months of each other. During this period my husband suffered a stroke yet he continued to work from home to finalize the business closing. We never lost our hopes or our dreams.

As a disabled person I became suddenly aware of the lack of help, transportation and local services available. As an illustrator I began to make sculptures to sell on Ebay but the artisan market was so in full the sales became more of a hobby than an income. As an executive at the age of 53 it was difficult for my husband to find work. We made due with what little we had saved until he found a small job. With our income reduced to half we did whatever we could to cut back and survive.

In addition to our own strife’s, in 2007 my mother broke a hip and wrist. She lived in another state. I spent 9 weeks being driven back and forth by my family members in order to be with my Mom and aid in her recovery. It soon became to be too much and Mom came to our home in May of 2007. In July of 2007 Mom decided to make our home hers. Mom endured two more falls and two more breaks within the next four months. Although my pain had worsened, we managed to get Mom back on track. It was then that Amerasad became a reality. Mom & I had become one unit, in need.

As I faced my own disabilities and increasing pain, I had also become a caretaker for an elderly parent. We had now become a family of three. I worked on Amerasad for a year until I was able to get enough put aside to get the site up and running and to provide for a few months of hosting fees. This aside, that’s not what Amerasad is about. Amerasad.com was developed with the hopes of becoming an offline, nationwide, venture. One that would provide much needed services for seniors and disabled Americans. Some of our goals in providing vans for ride’s to Drs. Appointment’s, the grocery store, the hairdresser etc. We are also offering advertising packages to contractors; local business, physicians, pharmacies and any business that offers services to seniors or disabled. Not only would advertising help our members find services but advertising would also help us to maintain the website and continue to grow.

We need more help. Our members need more help. With our nations existing number of seniors and disabled, coupled with a soon to be retired baby boomer generation Amerasad needs to be available to everyone!
